Accessible Parking

  • First-come, first-served accessible spots in the main lot.
  • Van-accessible spaces near the Garden Center and Lecture Hall entrance.
  • Well-lit parking lot, mostly smooth concrete with some semi-porous sidewalks.

Event Traffic:

Local events (concerts, races, etc.) may affect access. Please check for road closures or reroutes before visiting.

Public Transportation

  • Trinity Metro #53 bus stops near the FWBG|BRIT entrance (check schedules at 817-215-8600).
  • Trinity Metro On-Demand Southside rideshare includes the Garden area.
  • Show proof of riding Trinity Metro for a $2 admission discount.

Garden Center Entrance

  • Wheelchair and stroller-accessible entrance.
  • Passenger drop-off with a textured ramp near the main entrance.

Navigating the Garden

  • Accessible Routes:
    • A main wheelchair-accessible path connects the Garden Center to major attractions like the Rose Garden and Japanese Garden.
    • Surfaces include flagstone, concrete, asphalt, aggregate concrete, wood decking, pavers, crushed stone, and mulch.
  • Beauty Bus Shuttle:
    • Runs every half hour from 9:00 a.m. until close.
    • Stops at the Garden Center, Japanese Garden, and Shelter House above the Rose Garden.
    • Free with admission and wheelchair-accessible.
  • Wheelchair & Scooter Rentals:
    • Manual wheelchairs: Free, first-come, first-served.
    • Electric scooters: $30/day, 400 lb. capacity, available at the Admissions Desk.
    • ID deposit required. Scooters not available during Lightscape evenings.

Restrooms & Water Stations

  • Restrooms:
    • Most restrooms are wheelchair-accessible with baby-changing stations.
    • Two exceptions: One near Rock Springs Café and one in the Japanese Garden off Old Garden Road.
    • Locations shown on the interactive map.
  • Water:
    • Water fountains and refill stations are located throughout the Garden.
    • Map available at Admissions Desk or here.
    • Bring your own bottle or purchase a refillable one at the Trellis Gift Shop.
    • No disposable plastic water bottles are sold at the Garden.

BRIT Building Accessibility

  • Covered, wheelchair-accessible.
  • Drop-off area with a ramp 125 feet from the main doors.
  • One wheelchair available at no cost, first-come, first-served.
  • Terrazzo, carpet, recycled rubber, and wood-like flooring.
  • Some transitions between surfaces.
  • Outdoor pathways include limestone pavers, brick pavers, and decomposed granite.
  • Two elevators to the second floor.
  • A larger service elevator is available for public use.
  • Accessible restrooms on both floors, some with baby-changing stations.
  • Two single-stall family restrooms upstairs.
  • Can be busy and loud in the foyer.
  • Video displays, low-volume audio, elevator chimes, and occasional strong plant aromas.
  • Same PCA policy as the Garden Center.
  • Service animals allowed in public areas. Prior consent needed for Herbarium, Library, or labs.

Personal Care Assistants & Service Animals

PCAs:

  • Free admission for a paid PCA assisting a guest with a severe disability for any fee-based program.
  •  PCA admission does not count against a Member’s guest total.

Service Animals:

  • Service animals trained for tasks related to a disability are welcome in all public areas.

Financial Accessibility

Access Programs:

  • EBT: Free general admission with SNAP/WIC card and photo ID. Discounted family membership available.
  • Museums4All|  MusePass: Free passes available through Fort Worth public libraries.
  • Trinity Metro Discount: $2 off admission with proof of transit use.
  • Blue Star Program: Free admission for active military (with ID) and up to five family members (Armed Forces Day–Labor Day).
  • Veterans: Free admission year-round (with ID).
  • Family Community Pass Program: Passes distributed through nonprofits.
  • Free Programs: Periodic free after-hour family and cultural events.
  • FWISD Students: Free admission 3–6 p.m. on school days with student ID.
  • Teachers: One free general admission ticket per visit with valid school ID.
